In every State should tax increase ( by Andri Lunt ungan) Recently - International Monetary Fund ( IMF ) Conducting seminars in - ' s Africa Regional Technical Assistance Center South ( AFRITAC South ) held a workshop for revenue administration officials on the exchange of information . Workshop held in Mauritius on October 28 to 31 , 2013. Thirty- two officials from the administration of revenue , representing 12 member countries of the South AFRITAC ( Angola , Botswana , Comoros , Lesotho , Mauritius , Mozambique , Namibia , Seychelles , South Africa , Swaziland , Zambia , and Zimbabwe ) participated in the seminar . Staff IMFdisana - emphasize how systems and procedures for the exchange of information well organized can improve the strategy-making process , improve tax compliance management , and facilitate trade . Topics of discussion include : using a third-party information to assist personal income tax compliance , using technology to facilitate the exchange of information , extracting information for risk management ; utilize the information generated by the revenue stream for compliance management , gathering and reporting information for effective revenue administration , and develop a communication plan information . Participants share experiences on the challenges and opportunities in the revenue administration . Participants were also informed about the progress made by the IMF Fiscal Affairs Department in developing a web -based platform for Revenue Fiscal Information Administration Tool ( RA - FIT ) . Results from the first iteration of the tool manual covering 86 countries discussed and highlighted the trend of revenue administration . In addition there were present experts from the IMF , Mauritius Revenue Authority ( MRA ) and the South African Revenue Service ( SARS ) to make a presentation to the participants of the seminar detailing their experience and success in using the information from within their organization and from other agencies to help them become more effective in both collecting revenue and facilitate abiding taxpayers . Overcoming the participants , Mr Vasdev Hassamal , MRA Board Chairman noted that , with commitment , there is a great opportunity for each country to increase national income and trade facilitation through improved compliance monitoring . At the end of the seminar , Mr Vitaliy Kramarenko , AFRITAC South Coordinator said that the mobilization of revenue and trade facilitation is an important priority for AFRITAC South region , and the seminar provided a convincing example of how better information sharing in the revenue administration can promote these priorities . Mr Kramarenko added that this seminar also provides a platform for peer - to- peer sharing where AFRITAC South will expand the program to build the placement arrangements between member states and South AFRITAC AFRITAC participation of state officials in the South members AFRITAC South technical assistance missions as trainees .
