Indonesia president SBY Hoping Alutsista Prioritized Domestic Product

Jakarta: President asks the ranks of the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces of Indonesia (TNI) to prioritize the products main weaponry system (defense equipment) of the country. But the President also asked defense equipment produced products must be world class.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said this during a press conference after the meeting to discuss coordination of development in the defense sector at the TNI headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Thursday (9/8) afternoon.
"If it can not be produced domestically, then we buy from other countries and even then still in the framework of cooperation such as technology transfer and joint production, joint research and development," said President SBY. According to the President, by far the domestic defense equipment product quality is not inferior to the other state's defense industry.
In developing the defense industry, the President asked for consideration of economic and business aspects. "So it does not happen because only the pursuit of production without regard to economic and business side and then run into problems. Learning from past experience, we make sure everything is taken into consideration," the president warned.
Insutri defense Indonesia will evolve when buying goods produced by domestic industry. "Do not let us produce military equipment and defense equipment, military and police then we buy from friendly countries while the same or perhaps better our production," Yudhoyono added.
In the last coordination meeting, the government also gives special attention to issues of research and development of defense industries. Jakarta: The government projected defense budget for 2013 amounting to Rp 77 trillion, increased significantly compared to the year 2012 reached Rp 72.54 trillion.
